DESCRIPTION
The Computer Controlled Teaching Cheese Press, “PVQC”, consist of a pneumatic press to compress the fresh curd in order to remove excess of whey, since spoilage of the cheese is hastened by retention of too much water in the finished cheese.
This press has two cylinders with a total pressing capacity of 10 – 12 molds (according to the type of mold and size). Thanks to its design, cheeses are subjected to the same pressing force and the result is uniform.
The molds are fastened by two adjustable bars, so distance between molds can vary according to the size of the molds.
Whey drained from the cheese during the pressing is collected in a tray located at the bottom of the press.
The press includes a filtering set consisting of a pressure regulator, a filter regulator, a lubricator, a pressure regulator valve (computer controlled) and two solenoid valves (computer controlled) that enable the passage of air towards the cylinders to allow their motion in both directions. Thus, the cylinders´ movement is controlled and the pressure exerted on the molds is varied.
The unit includes two pressure sensors to measure the pressure in each cylinder.
The unit includes a set of molds to observe the influence of the pressure applied and the type of mold on the final result.
This Computer Controlled Unit is supplied with the EDIBON Computer Control System (SCADA), and includes: The unit itself + a Control Interface Box + a Data Acquisition Board + Computer Control, Data Acquisition and Data Management Software Packages, for controlling the process and all parameters involved in the process.
